  Introduction

  Established in 1999, the Blood Transfusion Department at Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital serves as the Shenzhen Clinical Blood Quality Control Center and is affiliated with the Chinese Society of Blood Transfusion, Guangdong Blood Transfusion Association, and other prestigious organizations. It is also a member of the Blood Safety Professional Committee of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and holds leadership roles in the Chinese Society of Blood Transfusion Immunohematology Committee. After over two decades of dedicated effort, the department has become a leading clinical transfusion medicine laboratory in Shenzhen, offering comprehensive transfusion diagnostic services. It specializes in advanced techniques such as RhCE blood type-matched transfusions and electronic transfusion information systems, establishing itself as a regional leader in transfusion medicine.

  •Blood Type Identification and Antibody Testing:

  •ABO blood typing.

  •Rh blood typing and advanced Rh(D) subtype identification.

  •Crossmatching, including for complex cases.

  •Irregular antibody screening and specificity identification.

  •Prenatal blood group antibody titration (ABO, RhD, and other systems).

  •Diagnosis of hemolytic disease of the newborn (ABO-HDN, Rh-HDN).

  •Testing and transfusion guidance for autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA).

  •RhCcEe multi-antigen blood matching and transfusion.

  •DEL blood type identification in pregnant women.

  •Monitoring antibody status in bone marrow transplant recipients.

  •35,000 units (U) of red blood cells.

  •48,000 units (4,800 bags, 10U per bag) of platelets.

  •7,000 units of cryoprecipitate.

  •The department ranks first in blood supply volume in Shenzhen.

  •Maintains a component transfusion rate exceeding 99.9%.

  •Blood usage per surgical case averages less than 0.05U for Level I and II surgeries and less than 0.15U for Level III and IV surgeries.
